MAIN QUESTION:
Will new pups from a stump grow any differently (fatter) based on the diameter / girth of a cactus at the point it was cut?
For example, this was a fat tip that etiolated when i didnt know dick about trichos. Grew out of decent soil for a few years. clearly wider girth below my initial cut
Lets say i cut this one at the white line instead. Would i get bigger pups from the girthier original section with larger areoles? Or am i better off leaving that excess, skinnier portion?
I’m hypothesizing it would be able to throw a fatter pup initially after cutting at the white line. Ideally that will pick up momentum faster than a pup coming from this cactus as is. Will a pup start off fatter from a larger areole, even if i cut off the etiolated mass? I wanna hear experience from you!
Logic tells me more green, more photosynthesis, fatter pups. But does the factor of girth at the chopping point negate that assertion? Or am i just not stoned enough 😂
