For future i like to leave the 2 top leaves + one extra node and cut the leaf off of that one, so it has more nodes to griw roots from and its in my opinion easier to plant

Personally I propogate with one leaf and one node. Especially since they are so huge. As painful as it is I suggest you take away the oldest leaf and keep the top one. Leave the node(s?) as it is. More leafs take more energy out of growing new roots.

In my own experience needs bigger pot for 2 reasons:
1. Support. You’re propagating a mature plant and it will need room to grow enough roots before going to soil
2. Proper water oxygenation
