It’s not the sudden change you need to worry about, the how low the temp gets.

Don’t keep the pot elevated on a table or stand, it’ll be surrounded by cold air.

Keeping the pot on the ground, nestled up against your house’s walls or in an unheated garage will be far more effective at protecting your juniper from the cold.

The root ball can freeze, the plant is not covered against frost. You’re in MA, both of those are inevitable threats. In your place it would be in my garage or my greenhouse. I wouldn’t even think of touching it beyond watering until February.

The other concern is what soil did the nursery use, and is it sufficiently watered. Too much the roots get iced, too little the roots dry freeze.

Get on the ground, off the table. Should be fine otherwise.

Put it on, (or better in) the ground. Cold air circulating under the pot negates pretty much all the “insulation” wrapped around it. Anytime the temps get into the 40s it will try to photosynthesize, so should be outside with sun, or under artificial lights in the garage.
