I got this plant from Krull Smith back in early August and was so excited when I noticed it was sending out a little flower bud about a month later. This is a new cross, and the first photo is what Krull Smith has posted as the first plant to bloom from what they are selling. Growing orchids is a test of patience, and Paphs can be the ultimate test. I waited and waited about 14 weeks for the bloom to open which is picture #2. The flower never got darker like I expected and more closely matches one of its grandparents Paphiopedilum Sukhakulii which is picture #3. I’m not upset because I enjoyed the surprise, and I also had received a growers choice Paph from Hausermann which was a dark red. I thought I had a dark red already and wanted the Hausermann Paph to be green. I guess Mother Nature took care of everything in the end.
