Wife gifted me this Juniper bonsai (already in pot and everything) for Christmas. She knew I have been interested in bonsai after I killed my first attempted tree.

What should I know for a juniper or any general advice or tips?

I know it should be outside year round and am doing that. I saw high moisture is needed, so I’ll be watering often or checking for that with the weather. I’m in Texas if it helps. Any comments are appreciated!

Leave it outside, water it daily. Don’t hug it to death.

Having multiple trees is helpful to distribute the love if you want things to poke and prod at regularly.

Joining in on this post as I also received a juniper for Christmas as my first bonsai. It’s currently inside. Should I move it outside? I’m at about 8,000ft elevation with lows in the 20’s F currently.

Put this in a bigger pot and let it grow for a couple.years. then, go to your local nursery and buy an unruly one for.like $10. Repot to the bonsai pot u moved the other one out of. Then, in a couple months, trim it(like 30% reduction). Then in another few months do it again. Then, enjoy.

Join a bonsai club. It really helped me out when I first started.
