Got this Rex begonia from Home Depot last night & would like to know what it is. THIS IS NOT WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE LAST NIGHT. It, as well as all of their tropical plants, had dried out so much that the soil in every pot was hydrophobic (I looked through EVERYTHING) & light as air. This poor little guy was wilting so bad it could have been considered dead but I brought it home, and bottom watered it for like 30 min. Then I put it in my propagation tank for high humidity under a grow light for maybe 4-5 hours. When I went to turn my grow light off at around 1am I noticed it wasnโt wilted anymore and has been very bouncy and robust ever since! I was not expecting it to bounce back in the same night at all! I took these photos of it this morning.
I also picked up a peperomia angulata from Home Depot (first pic shows dried up soil last night second picture taken this morning after being in my prop tank all night) & a tiny little saxifraga (strawberry begonia even though I know itโs not a begonia) from a local nursery & if anyone has tips on their care Iโd appreciate it cause Iโve never had either plant before. I want the saxi to grow full & can see baby plants at the base of the stems. & as far as the pep goes Iโve only ever had peps that grow like frost, piccolo banda or watermelon, & donโt particularly care for those any more but this oneโs leaves reminded me of a watermelon dischidia (a wishlist plant of mine) & had to get it for $6.
