You can plant it, my main question would be where it was sliced how recently was it cut? I’d want to give it a little time to callus over, alternatively you can dip it in cinnamon which acts an antifungal if you’re going to plant right in soil

You can just plant it. Use barely moistened, not soaking wet , soil and then do not water again until the soil is completely dry. Also use a pot that is not to much bigger then the stalk and root area.
