    To see if a container is food grade look for the recycling number on the bottom of the container. 1, 2, 4 & 5 are generally safe. Avoid #3, 6 & 7. Google how to determine if a container is food safe. That's where I just got this information.

    Ive been growing little gem and tom thumb lettuce on my shelves for a few years thru winter. Ones a small bib the other a small romaine. Being dwarfs they dont take up quite as much room.

    Gary, very informative video. I've been growing Paris Island indoors for years; start a cluster of seeds then pluck/transfer to a 3"x3" , been working great for me. Just mentioned this in case someone doesn't have larger containers.

    I want to do this, but don’t have a lot of room under my lights. If I start these now, could they be moved to my unheated greenhouse when it’s time to start pepper and tomato transplants, or should I keep them inside on window sills? I’m in the same growing zone as you. Also, I buy stainless steel pans from restaurant supply companies to put under my growing pans. They are like the pans you see on steam tables. I paid $6 each for mine, and they last seemingly forever. They have all sizes and depths. I tried to use some for seed starting, but I wasn’t strong enough to make holes in the bottoms. They still worked, but as you said, watering is a guessing game with them.
