Sooo hey guys! I’m so excited that I found five corms on my young variegated Frydek, but I’m very unsure what to do. I put two corms in a bottle cup half filled with water, without any coverage but under my strongest light. Three others are now in wet perlite unter a holed plastic foil. Any Tipps? Should I put water underneath the perlite pot so it’s always moisturized? Is it okay to leave them uncovered (I have a stable 60% humidity in the bedroom)?
And how long does it normally take for them to sprout in your experience? Also I’m very confused about when to pot them up in a normal grow medium? I just transferred their mother into semi hydro (my first ever semi hydro, wish me luck ahaha) and plan on doing the same for the babys, but at what point would it be safe and advisable to do? Thanks in advance for helping a newbie out!:)

Hi friend! Congrats on the corms! My preferred rooting method is using moss and keeping them in a humidity dome until they get a second or third leaf. I have had incredible success with this method. I have also used just the plain water rooting as well but it was much slower. I actually just moved some of my spouted Frydek corms out of their dome to start acclimating to my plant room environment. I have not done the perlite method so i can’t speak on that. Best of luck!

I’m doing the same thing with my Regal Sheild croms. I’m just using perlite right now. It was suggested to add Fluval. Is it necessary or does it make a difference?
