Pretty – not native to the US, though it is heavily planted in some areas. I read that they planted it in Galveston after a hurricane in 1900, and it is very prominent to this day.

The highway medians where I grew up were planted with them – pink and white blossoms. I loved to see them, though now that I am more fascinated by native plants, I wonder what is planted now – have they moved with the times and sought something native, or will they continue to use oleander because it works well for the median.
