Got this dracaena for my mom! Only water when top inch is bone dry?

    Does it ever weird you out that the “top inch” is a suggestion, if the pot is 3 inches tall or it’s 18 inches tall. I wouldn’t do that 🙂 Measure with a moisture meter–you’l be happier, the plant will be happier. This one is one of the happiest plants out there–just needs a LOT of light, some food and clean water.

    I water my dracaena when the moisture meter hits 3 and mine have been happy for years!

    No, water even less often. The soil needs to dry out a fair bit. Keep in mind that slight underwatering is easily fixed, but root rot will set you back for months or even kill the plant.
