Organised by volunteers from the Botanical Gardens, Wicked Wales, and Brighter Futures, the event marked the first-ever Christmas lights trail in the entire venue.

The two-day occasion, held on Thursday and Friday.

The trail showcased an array of Christmas decorations, which were designed, painted, and lit by children from Ysgol Bryn Hedydd.

Live characters around the gardens entertained children and provided fantastic photo opportunities.

Facebook groups were “flooded” with pictures and videos from the event.

Visitors enjoyed visits to the Santa Grotto, story time in the Tepee tent, live music from Tom Mac and Music Dimensions and Christmas crafts for kids.

The small volunteer team, led by chair of the gardens group Will Price, managed to orchestrate the free to enter event in just six weeks, without any external funding.

Visitors to the first night quickly took to social media sharing their photographs and praise and contributing to a significant rise in numbers for the 2nd evening.

The volunteers are already taking event feedback in preparation for a bigger and better return for Christmas 2026.
