I’ve had this sedeveria blue elf for about 3.5 years. It’s been repotted 3 times with the same 2 pot mates (sedum treleasei gave up this summer).

It started to grow tall until it couldn’t carry itself anymore and I just don’t have the heart to chop it off, especially with so many babies attached. It also looks so much prettier this way imo. But am I getting in the way of it’s potential this way?

I’ve chopped and propped a lilac mist that was just as long into 5 stalks but only the top chop survived and some propagated leaves.

I also have another echeveria I got at the same time growing the same way but shorter. (Possibly needs a repot)

You definitely don’t have to chop and prop. This baby wants to take over the world! You can get a big, wide, shallow bowl (I prefer terracotta but everyone has their preferences) and just lay her down on your gritty soil mix. Those roots will anchor to the ground and she’ll keep crawling. Eventually she’s likely to hang off again. I’m not familiar with blue elf but many sedum and some echeveria varieties are comfortable making stems and hanging off of things. [This post](https://share.google/n31RT5F5YUYkaJQXg) for example shows just how resilient some succulents can be. Again, I’m not sure if blue elf can hold itself like this ghost plant but she definitely wants a surface to crawl over.
