They are just called fejoas in my country New Zealand & they are an everyday/ household shrub. And the fruit when picked ripe is Delicious!!
And the trees produce so many fruit once mature that you end up giving them away.
I grew up with a henge of them, and most days in spring/ summer we would be out picking 10+ fruit up for several months. But you have to wait till they fall off the tree ooor right when they get slightly soft – soft… If they are any kind of hard they will be sour.. And the sour ones are Awful. When they over ripe they get a bit brown inside, and look a bit off, but are still delicious – I highly recommend this fruit if you can get it. 🙂

How old do they have to be to produce fruit
