Friend gifted this as a bday gift, I assume it’s some type of african spider tree, based on the tag but google isn’t doing it justice. It’s only been 3 days, friend mentioned it was from Fred Meyers. I’ve noticed this weird pattern on the leaves recently🥲 I’m not quite sure if it’s dehydrated or what? I tried to capture what the healthy leaves kind of look like with the green dots/red dots are the sad leaves . The soil is still some what moist (68% dry, top of soil dry but if I dig its moist) and I’ve got a grow light on it not too close for about 12hrs a day since it’s a lower brightness light bulb. Also it’s seems kinda grouped together? With 3 little bunches should I separated it and repot in the middle of winter?
Any tips greatly appreciated!

Dracena marginata. That’s the pink edge version, but there is also a lime-striped version and a burgundy one. Very easy care. They love lots of light, and the more sunshine they get, the brighter the pink will be. Otherwise, water it when the soil is totally crunchy dry. If you forget a couple extra days, it will be fine. Just don’t leave it in really soggy soil.
Make sure the pot it’s in has drainage holes. Nothing kills a plant faster than poor drainage.
Congrats on your new plants and happy belated birthday! 🎉 Dracena’s love distilled water, do not want to remain in constant moist soil and allow to dry out between watering. I wouldn’t separate it. It does seem to be planted rather deeply, are the leaves touching or in the soil?
Congratulations on your draceana marginata. They’re beautiful plants and fairly easy to care for. Follow the advice other people gave in this thread and you’re gonna love your new plant. Here’s a picture of mine
