My Darlingtonia californica (aka Cobra Lily) pot is absolutely killing it on the far north side of the greenhouse this winter. Kept them in the coolest, spot to mimic their native Oregon/California mountain seep habits, and they’re rewarding me with some of the deepest red coloration I’ve ever seen. Those hooded pitchers look straight out of a sci-fi horror flick—twisted fangs and all.
These guys are notoriously finicky (no warm roots allowed, constant cool water flow, bright light), but when you get the conditions right… damn, they deliver. Anyone else growing these alien beauties? What’s your setup like?
(Photos taken today—still gloomy winter light under LEDs, but the colors pop anyway.)
Happy growing

VERY, menacing!!😂 Beautiful display!!
So jealous, I tried but as expected did fabulous until summer really started to hit. Might try again sometime in the future with a different setup but it is well known they are quite a challenge to have them thrive here and global warming doesn’t help either.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Gosh I want one lol
