A Welsh community’s memorial garden has been wrecked by “mindless vandalism” after tyre marks were left all over it. Pictures of the garden in Llantrisant, which honours Welsh soldiers who lost their lives, appear to show bike tracks covering the grass.

This is not the first time that the memorial garden has been targeted by vandals, with police now taking action. Llantrisant Community Council had condemned those responsible calling it “mindless vandalism” and asking people in the community to report it.

The council wrote: “They’re at it again. These are the Memorial Gardens, maintained in honour of the fallen. This mindless vandalism has to end. Please ring 101 and report this, especially if you think you know who the culprit is.” For the biggest stories in Wales first, sign up to our daily newsletter here.

South Wales Police are investigating the vandalism and will be out in the community speaking to the public in the area.
