I just cut this very long piece off my pothos. I’ve never tried propagating it before. I watched a few videos where some put it in water and others put it in soil. If I cut it into pieces, it should grow new roots at each of the leaf nodes I circled. Is that right or is there something else I need to do? Any help is greatly appreciated.

My friend just gave me a super long cutting similar to this. I would cut between every node or every other like my purple marks. You can get a ton of plants that way. Then, pop it in some water and it should root fairly quickly. I kept mine right under my grow lights and those roots were THICK!

This one was a cutting from my grandma’s 28 year old pothos 🥰
So since there is a lack of leaves, just putting those in water may not go well. I always recommend moss / propbox. I have had so much success with root growth and overall high propagation rate using it. When i did my lime philo Brasil i cut in between each node and had about 20 cuttings. I placed them in my propbox for around a month or so and now i have a whole pot full. I’ll attach a pic
Yes! After cutting let them sit for maybe :30 to :60 to callous off the end. Then lay them in moss, perlite, even on loose soil if that’s all you have. Make sure the node is pointed down into the medium whatever you choose. If it’s soil water first so it’s wet, lay them down and use something to anchor it to the soil, I use old U Shaped hair pins. Don’t crush the stem just use it to anchor the piece so it stays put. Then mist lightly everyday to keep the soil moist NOT SOPPING WET. Or put a lid of some kind on it. Take out boxes with clear or transparent lids work amazing. The lid keeps the moisture in. Just watch them and make sure whatever you use it’s not soggy wet just moist. Then put them somewhere warm. Like a kitchen counter above the dishwasher or near the stove. Check on them to make sure they stay moist. If it does have a lid much easier. IMHO. I usually don’t worry too much about light for the first 1-2 weeks. I actually put mine near the heat vent or on a seedling heated pad. After the first 1-2 weeks then I give them light near other plants or with a grow light. Keep the lid on for a good month and you should see growth from most if not all of them. Good luck!! 🍀
