Jungle Lights display at McKee Botanical Garden in Indian River County
The 19th annual celebration at McKee Botanical Garden offers holiday light displays in six areas.
INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — McKee Botanical Garden’s 19th annual Jungle Lights display opened to the public Dec. 3 and continues through Jan. 3.
Inspired by the plant explorers who ventured into the Amazon nearly a century ago, this year’s display leads guests through six distinct areas of the Garden, each evoking a different country in Amazonia — Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela, according to a news release issued by the garden.
Visitors encounter glowing macaws, toucans, monkeys, flamingos, owls, butterflies, hummingbirds and even an alpaca, all set to rainforest soundscapes and festive holiday music.
McKee’s architectural icons are reimagined, including the Hall of Giants as the Great Reindeer Hall, with a towering illuminated Rudolph. There’s the Spanish Kitchen, where Santa appears on select nights. There’s also a large-scale model train, candy-cane-lit pathways, and illuminated palms.
Jungle lights is from 6 to 9 p.m. through Jan. 3. for tickets, dates, and full event details, visit mckeegarden.org.
