I’m in DFW, TX and would like to trim these lower branches. Anything wrong with this?

The kid in me says that tree is awesome for climbing.

No, have to be done right now! 😂

Yes it would make a good cut!

No not a problem but I may suggest trimming the small branches and living with it for a week or so before you permanently remove the big lower branches. The tree has a nice shape currently but it’s your tree! Also make the big cuts in three phases to prevent the bark from peeling off as they fall under their own weight.

Just make sure you do the right cuts, so it heals properly

Be sure to use proper technique so you don’t rip bark off the trunk

Tree should be fine and dormancy is the time to do it. Look at ANSI A300 for proper cuts. Page 9.
