I sent waxed amaryllis bulbs to my in laws and parents as a Thanksgiving gift. (Did you know you don't have to do ANYTHING with them except give them indirect light?) I was hoping they would bloom for Christmas and they are! I've gotten texts with updates on how they are doing, it's so nice to know how much they are appreciating them. Thanks, Jackson & Perkins! An Amaryllis Explosion of Color!
My gardening instincts HATE waxed amaryllis bulbs. A horrible hack that kills the plant. But I also know that 95% of amaryllis get discarded anyway so… I guess I’m simultaneously repulsed and think it is a good option for non-gardeners.
Beautiful
Question about these plants, are they not meant to be outside? I put mine in soil outside and it never blooms lol
Oh I love these! When done blooming peel the wax and anything else on the bulb off of it carefully and plant in a medium size pot. Water when soil starts to get dry (usually once a week) and keep in a bright window/move outside to a sunny spot when it’s nice out. Ive had mine for 5 years now! Blooms in summer and now. It’s huge and beautiful!
Lovely! Candy cane vibes!!
Flower tip: cut the pollen heads off of the pistils. Pollen can stain tablecloths and clothes.
