I’m in 4A and my Greenstalk has been a failure, the first year moved it into the unheated garage and still the strawberries died, so in following years I’ve tried everything else and nothing really grows very well in it. My raised beds produce great but not the Greenstalk,
My intuition worked, I had done just that with all my potted plants. ❤ Thanks!
Merry Christmas, Luke and family 😊❤
I want to wish everyone at MIgardener the best seed/garden company ! A very merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Hi Luke, I live in Massachusetts zone 6. My strawberry plants did not get mulched or stored indoors. However they still survived the cold winters. Survived since 2019 my strawberries. However my kale plants are wilting guess they cannot handle winter temps lol
Thanks for the tips. Just got my seed order, thanks!
Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Merry Christmas to all of you at MIgardener! I am so very grateful to you. I am a truckdriver out of St.Clair and deliver Autoparts for a living. I have experienced reduced hours and paycheck the past year. I was able to grow so much food in my tiny Garden because of you. Potato’s, cabbage, tomatoes, beets to name a few. It saved us so much $.
Merry Christmas 🎄🌻
I got a scotch bonnet pepper to live for four growing seasons. It unfortunately didn't survive the fifth attempt to overwinter. I still keep its stalk on my back deck as a reminder of my years with it.
Thank you for posting this. Exactly what I needed to know.
I have a clear tarp attached to a warmer wall. Most plants do well behind the tarp if we get freezing cold weather.
So I completely went through my subscriptions and deleted anything not helpful, not putting out new content and others that I have no idea why I would have subscribed in the first place… Turned notifications on for top 15 channels. All of a sudden I'm seeing proper content on my feed, subscribed or not, and obviously getting the videos I want to see.
Just the video i needed. So i started a hollyhock and I had a strawberry in a pot. I put the hollyhock in the porch to keep the rabbits at bay and i knew the freeze would be a problem for my perennials i didn't have time yet to stick in the soil. When it was 5° last week I put them inside completely. Now that it's up to 45, will they die if i put them back on the cold porch or even outside so they can maybe get back into their dormant period? They're actively trying to flower 😬
I found the perfect place to overwinter my 2 bell pepper plants. There's plenty of room in my recently remodeled huge, all tile shower. LOL
I have learned so much from your channel! Thank you!
As always, great information! Thanks for the video
If you over-winter a plant in the garage does it need sun? I live up on Lake Superior and I think we get about 4 days a month with sun – all the rest of the month it's cloudy or snowy. Never had much luck over-wintering in the garage but I only tried it with my black-eyed susans.
I have a question. How do you keep the fungus gnats from over running your house when you bring them in.I have used the batil- something (mosquito dunks) and diluted hydrogen peroxide but doesn't always work.
Great info. I definitely learned some things today. 😊❤❤
well any plant u want to take indoor should go in before its 10 degrees celsius.. otherwise they shock… from cold humid to and dry…
How do you avoid bringing in insects from the outdoor plants? I'd love to try that next year, but leary about it.
I remove my strawberries from my hanging baskets, trim them and replant in pots in the ground. In spring I replant in the baskets. Darn cold in Canada!
Good to see you discuss micro climates.
I am wondering about overwintering gogi berries, rhubarb and fig trees in pots. I do have them well mulched and water them about every 10 days. First winter for rhubarb and figs. 2nd winter for gogi berries. Albuquerque, NM. Zone 6
I have dig up my 3 strawberries in November. In pots, i have them in the basement with no heat vent. There is a bit of light from 2 basement windows. Will they survive, so i can replant in spring? Thet have 2 or more green leaves already.
Good tips
Perfect video timing. 2 questions.
I'm in Zone 5A, South Dakota. I just got a Greenstalk & will be planting strawberries in the spring. 2 questions: 1. Can I use straight compost or do I need to mix in potting soil?
2. Can I water from the top while its in the garage over the winter or do I water each pocket individually?
Thanks! I have learned so much from you Luke to help my garden!
Very interesting, another great lesson. Merry Christmas!
Notifications were turned off looking for you on tic tok
Thanks for the reminder to go water the onions and spinach in my unheated greenhouse!
Hi. Love your videos and your kindness and I’ll checkout your online store for my future garden requirements. Since I live in Michigan also, your advice is very helpful in the garden. Thank you.👍👏❤️
Just wanted to mention to you Luke that I have seen your latest videos but not on a regular basis. I have you in my subscription and hope you don’t leave YouTube. I suspect what is happening has to do with their algorithm but you should not lose subscribers. I can understand why you are frustrated. I have enjoyed your videos since you started over a decade ago. I have recommended your seeds to all gardeners I know. But I know you must do what is best for your family. Hope things work out for you.
