This is the same plant I posted about a few weeks ago, where I couldn’t tell whether or not it was zippering. Went to pluck the “sucker” and realized I couldn’t tell where one crown ended and another began, because the leaves were fused!

Sharing because I think it’s interesting, and because I’d like to hear others’s experiences with fasciation in African violets. I’m going to let this plant grow as-is for a little while just to see what it does, but I haven’t decided yet what to do with it in the long term.

Does anyone else have a plant that likes to do this? What did you ultimately do with it?

My Mac’s Just Jeff is showing signs, I’m hoping I’m just seeing things but it definitely looks like it’s zippering. In some plants, fasciation can occur from damage or environmental factors. In AVs, I’ve been told it is often genetic. At a show, a grower recommended that I cut the crown in half and put it in a humidity dome, that it could put out babies that are healthy. I’ve also been told that attempting to propagate from leaves will just result in more zippered crowns. I’m hoping someone out there has a “cure” because I really love Mac’s Just Jeff!
