A tradition at Echter’s garden center puts trees into homes that need them. The Arvada nursery has distributed hundreds of Christmas trees since 2018.
ARVADA, Colo. — A Colorado tree nursery will hold its annual free Christmas tree giveaway this week.
Echter’s Nursery & Garden Center said the giveaway of Christmas trees will be held Tuesday, Dec. 23, through Wednesday, Dec. 24.
Since 2018, the Arvada garden center has distributed hundreds of trees to families who might not otherwise have the means to afford one.
“I just couldn’t bear the idea that all these trees were going to get thrown away — they take 10 years to grow — and I was like, ‘I know there’s a lot of people out there that could really use them and can’t afford them,'” said owner Julie Echter.
Trees, gift bags and toys will again be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis, with no requirements for participation.
