I just checked my plants and didn’t think much of it but as I look to the tiniest leaf (yes it needs more light) I see a flower? Is this a flower? How? Why? I didn’t even know calatheas can flower. Kind of exciting though.

All Goeppertias (and the rest of the Marantaceae) can flower, but only Goeppertia crocata seems to be grown for them. Same basic structure and shape, though – just the G. crocata is bright orange.

I was so surprised at the amount of plants that **can** flower, but usually don’t because of the energy or maturity needed, when I first found out about it. Hoyas, philodendrons, pothos, tradescantias, monsteras, peperomias, begonias, succulents…the list is pretty endless and the flower varieties are so cool.

Nearly all plants, if they are not mosses or ferns, can flower.

Technically every true plant can flower. It’s the only way they produce seeds.
