So I got this in Loweâs back in August, it didnât come in flowers. I put them under my grow light for 8-12 hours next to my window (very little sunlight). I put water in saucer to water them when soil feels dry. Took it out of the greenhouse from ikea for picture.
What am I doing wrong? đ

You’re crown is incredibly tight. Others might chime in but my first thoughts are mites and/or too much light?
Hopefully someone else will chime in soon, best of luck!
You have broadmites, and it looks pretty bad. AVâs stop growing and flowering when they have bugs. The treatment is Avid, and you can purchase it in small quantities online. Mites can only be killed with certain pesticides. Neem and other organic chemicals donât work on infestations. If you have any other plants especially AVâs, they will likely have mites as well. They can travel on your hands, clothes etc. If it were mine I would toss it and start over. Itâs not worth dealing with an infestation. Mites will destroy your plants quickly and this one is pretty bad. Iâm sorry for the bad news. Iâve dealt with mites, know what the signs are, and never want to deal with them again.
You definitely have broad mites. They are going through the AV community since summer. Those leaves will be hard to the touch and break when you try to move them. Your petioles are becoming shorter and the crown leaves are curling under in an attempt to escape the chewing of the mites.
The crown is producing very distorted leaves which may indicate mites. Did you quarantine the AV before adding it to your cabinet with others? Have any of your other AVs or other plants in the cabinet shown any changes or decline since bringing this one home?
Dr. Optimara is a good site for plugging in your plant’s symptoms to narrow down a diagnosis: https://www.optimara.com/doctoroptimara/diagnosis.html
