I'm not sure what I've been doing wrong but my African violet won't bloom. I've pinched off the spent flowers and removed suckers to encourage it to spend its energy on blooming instead but it still hasn't. I make sure to keep the soil moist but not soggy and to sit it in a tray of water with pebbles to increase humidity and I can't tell what's wrong. Is it too far away from the window and not getting enough light or am I doing something wrong with the humidity? Also I don't use fertilizer because I don't really see the point, it's a plant it will grow fine without human intervention.

They need fertilizer and probably more light to bloom.
No plant wants to be that far from a window.
100% it needs more light. It is literally leaning towards the window.

is a perplexing statement to say the least.
That is the point of fertilizer to encourage blooms when the plant is not in nature and getting what it needs from the environment.
I always use fertilizer and mine bloom all the time they also sit directly in front of a window
