In Southern California, San Fernando Valley. I’m guessing they’re from a tree because lots were blowing in from above.

    So… it’s customary to say snowstorm, rainstorm and windstorm in southern california?
    I’m asking because i’m amazed. My own custom is being lazy with language, so the most usual type of storm we’d refer to as “storm” and differentciate the others by stating it’s wind or snow etc.

    Definitely some kind of elm. I have a lot of Siberian elms, and when they drop their seeds, it’s a week-long rain of confetti that looks just like these
