Bought my house a few months ago and I wanted to extend/ install a paver portion to my back patio (approximately 18' x 18'). I used a tiller and got all excess dirt out, its about 5-7in deep. Question is what do I do next? Do I add crushed gravel and compact then fabric? Or tamper, than fabric, and than gravel/granite and compact?
Any advice would be great, ill be renting whatever tools I can get from home depot.

4in of well pounded road base and then get river sand to start laying pavers down. You need a proper form all the way round. Use composite sand to fil gaps – I like gator supersand. Watch for low spots and be sure you’ve gotta slope away from house.
A 8×8 pounder will be fine for a small spot like that. You don’t need machine.
We used Brock paver base panels in our yard. So far so good although it has not been a year yet. Whatever you do I would highly recommend buying/renting/borrowing a laser level system to check your grade and make sure it’s perfect and you have a little pitch to get the water away in the direction you want.
I would put the fabric, crushed gravel 2- 4”on top and compact, then level with paving sand by laying down 1” conduit pipes and screed it level using the pipes. Lay the bricks or pavers and then fill the cracks with a locking paver sand. I have done this on a few paver projects and it has worked great. Good Luck!
Your dogs look like damn good workers if they did all that for you.
