I don’t know how to prune. I got this girl ages ago, and she’s just quadrupled in size and gotten so messy and I’m overwhelmed on where to even start. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can take care of her? Should I drastically prune? I’m the sort of plant mom that just waters and doesn’t know what to do beyond that, so I’m at a loss here.

I usually water her once a week, maybe 2 -3 cups of water. She is right by the window where she gets light all day.

Pruning can be done up to your aesthetic needs. But pruning to propagate requires you to be aware of where the root nodes are within the stem and cutting accordingly with a very sharp and clean pair of scissors. For propping you want to ensure each segment of cutting has an aerial root growth and a leaf for best success. Simply put, just cut a little above where the leaf petiole starts.

Also, bent moss pole is crazy…

That’s not a happy looking monstera! You can prune as you wish. If you take off a lot, don’t water for a while.

I addition to pruning suggestions, it needs something to climb on and more light.
