Need help identifying this flower/plant found in Black Point Wildlife Drive. Everything keeps telling me it’s goldenrod but the flowers don’t match up to me. The way the leaves stick to the stem is super cool.
There are two plants in your photos. The first picture is indeed a goldenrod, perhaps Solidago virgata by how you mention that the leaves are appressed to the stem. The yellow flower in your second picture is a legume, a Crotalaria sp.
