Amaryllis? They make a beautiful flower that looks almost like a combo between a hibiscus and a lily in my opinion. They’re much more closely related to lilies

Paper white Narcissus. They can be grown out of soil, just in a bowl with stones and water. They bloom in a short time, and when finished, toss them. They will not rebloom, as the process required to produce the flowers depletes the bulb and unlike amaryllis, cannot be grown to produce flowers another year.
They have a very sweet smell. lol, you either love it or hate it. My mom says it’s exactly like cat piss.

Like a daffodil or some such.

Bulbs are sometimes hard to tell lol! I would plant it in soil with the plant part showing and see what grows! Doesn’t need direct sun and would lightly water weekly ✨

Paperwhites in the bag, amaryllis in the pot. Both are common holiday gifts. “Forced bulbs” is the correct term to making them grow out of season. If you have a vase with a narrow neck, the paperwhites don’t need a pot at all. You want space for roots to be able to reach water, without the bottom of the bulb getting wet.

My mom loved to do a bowl of those every spring and the kitchen always smelled of fresh egg farts
