Wimborne Gardening Club’s December meeting featured a festive demonstration, with members shown how to create a Christmas tabletop decoration by Carnival Flowers as part of an interactive workshop.

A gardening-themed quiz entertained those who did not take part in the workshop, followed by a bring and share Christmas buffet.

The club’s next meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 5, 2026, at 7.30pm at St Catherines Church Hall on Lewens Lane, opposite the Quarterjack Surgery.

Phil Broomfield will present the story behind Lord Bute’s seaside retreat, “High Cliff”, which was built in the mid-1770s, and the present-day Highcliffe Castle, built by his grandson in the 1830s.

The talk will examine the historic landscape and grounds which overlook Christchurch Bay, and how they have evolved to become a public pleasure grounds today.

All are welcome to attend and enjoy tea and coffee after the meeting.
