I use fluval stratum and perlite with basically the same setup as the previous contributor.

I personally peel the brown off (wet it first). Then I use the water method using a small container and have a little bit of water in it (Not where the corms are submerged). Have a clear lid on it for humidity and light (saran wrap is fine). Let them grow roots/ & or starting to sprout . Then I move it to perlite and let them grow at least 1-2 leaves before transferring to an aroid mix or whatever you choose.

sphagnum moss in a 85-95% humidity environment in a shallow container/vessel! hasn’t failed me yet!
