For those of you who saw my earlier post here, https://www.reddit.com/r/calatheas/s/UG9BSsklhO , my calathea plant slowly had all her leaves shrivel and die. As the last one was fading, I thought just MAYBE her roots might be growing and that is why her leaves are gone.

Well I checked while repotting her to a smaller pot (some comments suggested hers was too big) and her roots are healthy and PLUMP, with no slime or smell. I was right! And during this investigation, I saw 2 new leaf shoots under the top soil growing.

So yeah, she looks dead, but very much just said “hold my beer” and is beginning to flourish again. Oh, and Callie has a new friend, Annie, who is cheering her on.

(Callie from “calathea” and Annie from “anaconda”….cuz she’s a snake plant….STOP JUDGING ME!! 🤣🤣)

Question though! Are moisture meters a good idea? I have her with one and I tend to only water her when it is on dry. Clearly, this is working for her.

I’m so glad you explained the names because my mind immediately went to Hallie and Annie from the Parent Trap!
