I ordered a Thai Constellation Monstera in a 6" pot that was delivered today. I checked all the leaves and found what appears to be rust fungus on the bottom two leaves. There are minor spots on one of the top leaves as well.
What would you recommend treating this with? Is it possible to spare the leaves?
- I already wiped off the leaves with 70% isopropyl alcohol and left it on for 5-10 minutes (to attempt to kill fungal cells; however, I know this is not sporicidal). I wiped off the alcohol as best as I could with damp paper towels afterwards.
- I sprayed with "Garden Safe Insecticidal Soap" because that is all I have right now, and I believe I saw some minor damage from thrips.
- I ordered "Captain Jack's Copper Fungicide" spray and will be using that as soon as it comes in tomorrow.
Any suggestions? I have seen some completely cut off affected leaves. The majority of the rust-colored spots came off with isopropyl alcohol, giving me some hope. On the other hand, that nearly confirms that it is a fungal disease, which may be difficult to eradicate.
P.S. If anyone is curious, the aroid plugs in the last photo with all the humidity are Alocasia Batik and Anthurium warocqueanum. I have since quarantined the Monstera ~7 feet away.
