Members of Hammond Garden Club delivered an early Christmas present to the Hammond Branch of the Tangipahoa Parish Library on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, following the club’s December holiday meeting at Oak Knoll Country Club.

Books and Library Chairman Joan Davis, along with members of the committee, delivered six new books from a “wish list” of garden-themed books submitted by Library Assistant Jenne’ Raiford.

The executive board approved an allocation of $100 for 2025-26 to purchase the books, with any funds leftover to purchase vegetable and flower seed packets to be distributed to patrons of the Rosenblum Seed Library.

The donated books included the following titles:

“Rewild Your Garden: Create a Haven for Birds, Bees and Butterflies” by Frances Tophill

“Your Natural Garden: A Practical Guide to Caring for an Ecologically Vibrant Home Garden” by Kelly D. Norris

“The Complete Gardener’s Guide: The One-Stop Guide to Plan, Sow, Plant, and Grow Your Garden” by DK

“Rebel Gardening: A Beginner’s Handbook to Organic Urban Gardening” by Alessandro Vitale

“How Do Seeds Grow Into Gardens: A Hands-On Book About Gardening” by Clayton Grider

“Nettles & Petals: Grow Food. Eat Weeds. Save Seeds” by Jamie Walton.

In addition to the books, the club donated approximately 350 seed packets purchased by individual garden club members and from donated funds.

The Rosenblum Seed Library’s motto is “Borrow, Grow, Share.” The program is available at all six parish branches.

According to the library website, adult library patrons with a valid library card are able to check out three different seed packets every two weeks. Packets include planting instructions.

The library invites those using the program to post pictures of their growing plans on the library’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TangiLibrary and on Instagram with the hashtag #TangiSeedLibrary.

Members of the Books and Library Committee include Joan Davis, Dona Calcote, Melanie Helm, Marta Lichtl, Phyllis Mire, Shirley Pellichino and Colleen Scott.

Present to accept the donation was branch manager Candess Robinson.
