Depot Garden, Tryon Country Club are ready for the holidays

TRYON—The Tryon Garden Club members have been busy preparing for your holiday stroll through Tryon’s downtown garden gem, the Depot Garden on Pacolet Street. On a cold, damp day, they made swags and arrangements that brought the season’s spirit to the garden. The lampposts and gazebo are now decked out with festive greenery and large red bows, and the paths sparkle with light as you stroll through the winter wonderland called the Depot Garden. This year’s decorating theme is in keeping with the garden’s native plant emphasis.

At the Tryon Country Club, the Tryon Garden Club members decorated for holiday festivities that will be held in the clubhouse throughout the season. On Thursday evening, December 11, the Annual Tryon Garden Club Christmas Gathering was held at the Country Club, where members enjoyed the festive atmosphere and event catered by Chef Sharone.

Although Pearson’s Falls and Glen remains closed, that didn’t stop the club members from maintaining the tradition of decorating the gates. The Christmas spirit is there even if the guest cannot be welcomed. Progress is being made on the trail’s reconstruction, and a new walking bridge over Colt’s Creek will begin soon. On social media and through the club’s new website, www.pearsonsfallsandglen.org, you can keep up with progress on the trail, the new parking lot, and the outdoor education center.

The Tryon Garden Club is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and wishes to thank the Polk County Community Foundation (PFFC) for its support in maintaining the Depot Garden. In addition, the club continues to appreciate the support of the Community Foundation of Henderson County, the South Carolina Native Plant Society, and PCCF for grants that are helping to restore Pearson’s Falls and Glen.
