As the title implies, what is eating my plants. There seem to be droppings of some sort in leaves too next to eaten fruits too. All the tops of the plants are eaten to twigs! I can't find any insects on the bushes towards the end of the day or mornings. Fruits are also get decimated too. Where should I start with organic pest control? DE? I am located in S FL

I’m thinking hornworms and BT (organic) will take care of them. They are tough to find but they glow under black light and easy to pick off if you were to go out at night. I’m not a fan at all of DE for a few reasons including it kills the pollinators and bad for you if inhaled. It would be tough to get coverage over your tomatoes without inhaling a bit.

    100% caterpillars 🐛

Look under the leaves, they start off teeny tiny but by the time the very hungry caterpillar has eaten that much it is a big fat monstrosity the size of your thumb. RIP your tomatoes.

BT sprays is the best treatment generally, it’s targetted and makes the caterpillars lose their appetites and starve to death after ingestion. Ideally the best thing to do is come along and check under the leaves once in a while, especially if you see damage. Check for little clusters of eggs and small caterpillars. Then you can get them early before they can do damage.

  3. Caterpillars, deer, and/or squirrels are the first things that come to my mind.
