The plant that died was a fairly new ZZ plant via propagation

  1. That’s a tuber, which is an organ that some plants have which stores water and nutrients so the plant can survive difficult conditions. Potatoes (as in, the part of the potato plant that we eat) are also tubers, and like a potato, you may be able to propagate the plant from this tuber if it’s still alive.

Its a rhizome, a type of plant bulb/root.So not eat it. Also makes me think your plant wasn’t actually dead.

This is the rhizome from the zz plant, I’d plop it back in the soil a new leaf may pop up

That bulb looks healthy. Pot it back up and it will probably give you a new ZZ

It’s not dead lol. Repot that thing

Nobody talking about the reused soil!? If your ZZ “perished” due to possible root rot, then you risk spreading it to whatever plant you used it on next.

Don’t reuse the soil if your plant died in it.

    It didn’t die
    It died back
It was waiting for better time to burst back out

It’s ok tho u basically got a fetus now

Before I read the caption I thought, “I bet it was a ZZ” lol. Totally normal, as others have said, and a decent chance you can revive it.

I had a zz plant rhizome lay dormant for literally over a year, I gave it water very seldomly.. like once every couple of months, and it came back..

Pot it with a new chunky soil mix and that baby will be back. It’s not dead yet.

Yes. Its a potato. Make sure to butter it once a month.
