A car was smashed into a garden wall on a main road in Trafford on Monday morning (December 15) with emergency services temporarily blocking the road.

The black Volkswagen Polo appeared to have veered off the road and over the pavement before ploughing into the wall and sending bricks crumbling to the ground.

Police attended the scene on Altrincham Road at the junction with Ferndown Road in the Baguley area on Monday morning. The road was temporarily blocked while emergency crews worked at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed a car struck a wall and that the driver, a man in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and driving while disqualified.

He was taken into custody to be questioned in relation to the offences. The car was later recovered from the scene.
