You can prune 30% of a pot plant’s roots without any harm to the plant.

You can cut the plant in half or thirds and report into 2 or 3 pots.

Use a carving or bread knife and slice it into 4 portions and plant each into a new pot and you will have 4 plants to keep or maybe gift some too. You will get some die back and simply snip that close to the plants base with scissors. Use a quality indoor potting mix also.

The other way, albeit more work and mess id to tease the plant apart carefully trying to get as many rooted crowns as possible and then when all laid out you can pot up accordingly. Peace lilies don’t love to be divided. They prefer to be upgraded

Definitely divide and turn into multiple pot plants.

Scrape the root ball with a fork to remove as much soil as possible, trim the ends of the roots slightly, and repot in the same pot with fresh soil.
