Hey all,

Im not great but with plants and (with advice) am re potting some pothos from a previous owner

I know I'm new, but this seems particularly bad? Everything, even the top, is rock hard!

I know I need to cut the roots to keep it from spiraling. But do I cut all the way through to the center? What do I do with the inside? I suspect there's not much dirt in there. Can I scrape the top dirt away so water can penetrate?

Any and all advice appreciated!

Oh my god lol, that’s insane. I’d just say loosen it a bit with you hands and repot into a much bigger pot.

Cut about 2 inches in at the top all the way down three times properly spaced and then run your fingers through the roots gently let them drop you can see which ones are nubbed and useless cut them the ones that are too long cut them trim that guy up top and start over

Roots also need to be pruned. Hence the bugs found in soil.

Cut as much as u like without cutting the connection to the shoots.

New pot. More soil. Black Earth soil will last longer. Do it again in a year.

I would harden it with resin and make a pot from it. This is beautiful
