One of the most common ways to shut off the water to your house is via the outside lever that looks like this. The other method is the water main by the street, but that’s a different video for a different day!
In the meantime, give it a quarter turn to the left and it will stop the water from flowing, this lever will now be perpendicular to the water pipes. To open it, simply give it a quarter turn back and have it parallel to the water lines!

if you need to shut the water off to your house either inside of the garage or outside of the house you should see some piping coming out of the house and into the ground that looks like this it has a lever that looks like this a quarter turn of it this way to making it perpendicular to this pipe coming out of the house means that the water is off and not flowing when it’s parallel to the water line running up and down that means that it’s on and flowing
