A team of 32 volunteers from the company’s Warrington fulfilment centre spent four days renovating the outdoor space at the B2 surgical specialities planned care ward at Halton Hospital, creating a peaceful environment for patients, families, and staff.

The project was delivered in partnership with Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospital Charity.

Christian Stewart, site leader at Amazon in Warrington, said:

“Our team was incredibly passionate about this project as we know how important therapeutic outdoor spaces can be for hospital patients and their families.

“Seeing the transformation of the garden over the four days was rewarding for everyone involved, and we hope it brings comfort and joy to patients and their families for years to come.”

The company also donated £1,200 to the project, which funded new benches, plants, pots, compost, paint, gardening tools and sensory lighting.

Helen Higginson, head of fundraising at the hospital charity, said:

“The garden is an important space for our patients, offering a calm environment that can reduce anxiety and provide sensory stimulation.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Amazon’s Warrington team for both their donation and the time they’ve dedicated to creating such a beautiful space.

“The new benches, plants and sensory lighting will make a real difference to the wellbeing of our patients.”
