I have a large lychee tree in the backyard and the previous owners left a chain around a branch that has grown in. Not sure if it was all the way around the branch or not. Is this a problem for that branch long term or if so can the branch be removed?

At this point it should be fine, id recommend just cutting off the excess visible chain as close as possible without damaging the tree
