I am trying to do some planning for Spring for a bush/shrub native to Pennsylvania. The area gets afternoon and evening sun, when it rains in the Spring we get fast downpours and there is a downspout there so there is temporary standing water pockets for an hour or two that eventually dissipates. I want something that is good for birds and 5 ft or shorter and won't compete too much with my Virginia strawberry I planted at the end of Autumn. This led me to look at dwarf serviceberry but I'm concerned it may be too wet of an area, alternatively I will plant summersweet. Does anyone have any experience with serviceberry?

I think it would do alright there. Great choice.
