Hello, pictured in front of this cedar tree are a few Chinese privet and Amur honeysuckle bushes. I am looking to remove the privet and honeysuckle but I want to ensure I do as little damage to the cedar tree as possible. If I dig up these bushes, will I damage the tree? Is there another way I should go about removing them? Thank you!

Digging them out being that close will absolutely destroy roots from the cedar and potentially cause dieback in the tree. Plus, every tiny root you miss will turn into a new invasive for you to try to kill. I’d suggest cutting them to grade and painting the stumps with Triclopyr.
Cut stump removal
Cut them flat and cover the area with cardboard then mulch. If new privot pops up, it’s easy to hand pull when the soil is wet.
