Hi everyone, thank you for this sub. As a first-time homeowner, following it has helped me build good general knowledge as I take care of our property. Right after moving in a few months ago, we had our sewer and water lines replaced as planned (it was very old concrete pipe).
The tree is probably ~6” in diameter at the base. It was put there in place of what I think was an oak several years ago. That one had roots that went all over the yard (and toward the foundations I think). The yard around the tree is quite lumpy which I assume are the old tree’s roots decaying? Just recently there were a couple of huge oak bracket mushrooms right outside of the pine straw mulch.
Should I be worried about this maple affecting the new water/sewer pvc line? And if so, how long ballpark? We love all the trees we have, but want to be responsible with our home so willing to get it removed if needed.
Guidance is welcome!

You should be fine. Maple roots tend to be pretty shallow. Usually around 18 inches deep.
