Remember Pearl and how plump she was, pic1? Well here’s a picture of her when she needs water, pic 2. If you look closely some pearls aren’t as plump/round and she’s not nearly as shiny, she’s starting to dull. Her soil is also dry with the toothpick method and her pot is light. All signs that it’s time to water. Just wanted to share for those that struggle with strings of things and pearls.

You can do that, but you also don’t need to look for signs for your pearls to be “ready” for water. If you give them a substrate high in inorganic grit like pumice and perlite then they dry out super quick anyway. Add in a terracotta pot and it dries even faster.
This is my favorite plant. I water him once a week or so and I fertilize weakly with every watering as well. Clearly, he’s doing fine. People really try to overcomplicate these things but it doesn’t have to be that way at all.
[Here he is](https://i.imgur.com/Zg0SmG6.jpeg), and this is after a *massive* chop several weeks ago.
